"Just For Fun" Page Is Now Live

Well, what can I say about today? Other than that is was magical. I met an online acquaintance in real life for the first time this morning. They were not what I was expecting, but they turned out to be one of the most lovely people I have ever met. They officially made the best first impression on me of anyone I have ever met in my life. All they did was be their fun loving, kind, and interesting self, despite the various pressures NOT to stand out in public. Three hours of some of the best conversation I've ever had reminded me of some VERY important life lessons that I learned long ago and somehow forgot. One of the most important is to just be yourself and enjoy life. Sitting down with this vibrant, colorful, brilliant girl felt like seeing an old friend for the 1,000th time. I consider her a proper and true friend, and an amazing example of how to live a good life. The strength and courage she showed me, for so many reasons, was heart warming, and got me thinking about so many things. It's so easy to get lost in the noise of modern life, take life way too seriously, and lose yourself and your sense of joy along the way. My sense of self and joy were rekindled today, and I am quite proud to call her a friend. She taught me how to play chess for the first time, which was a bucket list item for me. I bought a souvenir burlap coffee bag sack from the coffee house we met at. I plan to hang it on the wall and pin cherished memories to it in my new room. We took a few pictures together as well, and they are lovely. I'll add one to this post if she gives the go ahead to do so. Have to respect people's privacy. It's so incredibly rare that I am ever taken aback when meeting someone. I've other amazing people before, and she handily made that rather short list. I'm so glad I said yes to meeting and freed up the time and energy to do so. I have to remind myself to just say yes to life at times. I can be quite the hermit.
Onto the new webpage. I was creating a new music playlist on my phone for my upcoming move to Illinois, as recommended by my new friend. I came across these two ridiculous AI generated songs I made a few years ago. They made me laugh really hard, and i wanted to share them with her. They're just music files on my phone, and I wasn't entirely sure how to share them with her. I decided to create a playlist on the AI music site, and share that with her. Then I got to thinking about our conversations today, and decided I wanted to share the things that bring me joy with more people. I'm by no means famous, important, or popular, but I can reach more than zero people, which is good enough for me to share things. I created a new page to share the stuff that makes me laugh: Just For Fun.
It can be found from the main menu on the site at www.garbage-industries.com, and is just a basic page with some text areas and some links and descriptions of things I find funny and/or useful.
I have a scattered collection of fun things I'd like to include in the future, but they're hard to find at times. It's going to take me quite a while to dig through music playlists, YouTube playlists, favorited podcast episodes, lists of movies, and all sorts of documents where gems might be buried. The page will remain up as a permanent staple of the site, and will be updated when I get the chance. I know not everything there will appeal to everyone, but the right people should be able to get something positive out of it. Some of it is akin to nonsensical slapstick humor, while some of it is actually quite deep and detailed when you look closer. Regardless, it's just for fun and to hopefully help people take life a little less seriously and help them find joy in life. Humor has always been great medicine for me and I'm always happy to share.
If you would like updates, feel free to subscribe via email, at the bottom of most pages on the site. It's the best way to get notified of various nonsense I crap out. I've got some pretty big YouTube video projects coming up soon, some of which are going to be massive and ridiculous. This site, and the blog will be the best ways to know when that goes live.
That reminds me of an incredibly important topic of discussion that came up today: the willingness to experiment in life and share the results with others. I have treated my entire life as one big experiment for years now. After I decided not to end my life, I chose to try and live it to the fullest. To just do whatever makes sense to me at the time, ignore common advice and wisdom, and try things for myself, consequences be damned. It's been a fascinating 13 years or so, and I've learned some incredibly valuable life lessons along the way. My life is one giant experiment, in service of others, and fun.
Laugh hard, play hard, and don't take things to seriously. Go meet some strangers and share a chuckle.
Cheers.
Dustin
