Raspberry Pi Gaming

The thing most people seem to use Raspberry Pis for: playing video games. The Raspberry pi 5, while quite capable at gaming, is rarely used to play games outside of older emulated game consoles, such as the Playstation 1 and Nintendo 64. My goal here is to explore the full capabilities of the Raspberry Pi as a gaming computer. While it can be quite easy to play older console games, it's not always easy to play more modern, larger, or graphically intensive games.

Using a Raspberry Pi 5 with a dedicated graphics card, it's possible to play newer and larger games that the Pi couldn't normally run. This involves a little extra hardware, some special software, and sometimes requires compiling software specifically for the Raspberry Pi. Below you will find a list of games that I'm working on getting to run on the Raspberry Pi 5, as well as the current state of them, and links to any articles or resources that go with them.

The goal is to prove that the Raspberry Pi is a viable gaming computer and encourage software developers to develop games and programs specifically for the Raspberry Pi. I feel that the Raspberry Pi is more important now, than ever, given the recent computer memory shortages of 2025 and 2026. RAM and flash storage is out of reach of many people now, meaning that the Raspberry Pi has a better chance of reaching people and fulfilling their computing needs. It's also just a fun little computer to use and work with.

Happy gaming.
